I think there is some value in Mexico here. Watched both teams first games and both were impressive.

Brasil beat Greece 3-0 and although the goals were all spectacular the scoreline was somewhat fair as Brasil did dominate the game. Maybe 2-0 would have been more suited. Anyways it was relatively an easy game against the Greeks who have struggled recently anyways. Greece did little to threaten the Brasilan goal (one good chance right before halftime) and were simply outmatched. After the second goal which came in the first minute of the second half the game lost its excitement and Brasil simply cruised. Brasil looked great but Greece did not play well.

Mexico beat Japan 2-1 after conceding an early goal from a counter attack from the Japanese. That goal was very well executed but was really quite fortunate as 2 defenders were very close to the striker who just redirected the cross across the goal. Just before that goal Mexico has completely bossed the first 10 minutes not even allowing Japan to touch the ball. Even after the goal I felt Mexico would still be able to come back. The rest of the first half Mexico slightly outplayed and were rewarded with the equaliser. Japan however did create some less dangerous counter attacks. In the 2nd half it was a different story. Mexico neutralized the Japan's attack and completly dominated the half. Well worth the victory. Mexico looked great on the ball the entire match.

Mexico is now unbeaten in 19 matches! Its safe to say Brasil is not in the same class of any of those teams Mexico has run through but nevertheless they must have great confidence.

Nothing huge but betting on Mexico in any form is a play I would endorse.

+1 goals at plus money is where the majority of my money will go, then maybe a shot at the draw also.

Also about the total. I'm very confident Mexico will score. So I believe the only chance it goes under is with a 1-1 scoreline. Thus if playing the over I would hedge a little with the exact score of 1-1 at good odds of 8-1 or so.

Great call on Mexico today...Not one of Brazil's strongest teams or games but nice for the account....

It seems Brazil does not care about winning anything but the World Cup...

Any other tournament they play in they seem to send second or third rate teams by their standards...

I had Brazil to close out a 5 team parlay and put a little on Mexico and Draw to win a little or get my money back...At least I will get my money back...

Bummer though to see Brazil stink it up against an inferior team....

I can see why they send the lower or younger players to get better against other countries best, makes sense but gets frustrating having to listen to my Mexican neighbor tell me how great Mexico is and they have a chance at the next World Cup and all...

Until I ask him how many World Cups Mexico had won compared to Brazil and if he thinks Mexico is playing Brazil's first or second team...After that he shuts up and we just have a beer together and talk other things....

Sorry for rambling but great call on Mexico...

Hpark,

Nice write up. Only ever one team to bet in that match and it was Mexico +1 +110 start, the good thing about mexico is that they can pass and hold onto the ball very well , so teams like brazil don;t get as much of the ball to punish you.:suomi:

lots of teams will struggle as they can't hold onto the ball against brazil, argies etc.

thks for props guys, looking at tomorrow's games now. See if I can come up with anything worthwhile.

Mexico is a very good team, still underated slightly despite their now 19 game unbeaten streak.

It wasn't Brazil's day however...

I actually bet Brazil at 2-1 to win this tournament today.

HPARK1, not to be picky, but Mexico's unbeaten streak stnds at 14 not 19. Their last loss was to Korea Rep. Last August in the second round of the Olympics 1-0 BTW, that was a great write-up and very much on the mark sir. Good luck in the future.

Olympics is a youth squad, only a couple overaged players are allowed to compete. Does not enter the category of a true national game.

From the official confederation cup website;

Win or draw against Greece in their final Group B game on Wednesday and Mexico will reach a famous milestone in their country's footballing history – 20 games unbeaten for the national team.

They just avenged their last defeat against Brazil (0-4) which occured on July 18 of last year.
